HHA Training in Alaska has several key requirements. Alaska has one of the most stringent training requirements for Home Health Aides which includes:
1. Minimum 140 hours of training
2. Minimum 80 hours of clinical training
3. Minimum 12 hours of in-service training in each calendar year provided by the home health agency
In Alaska, home health aide services can only be provided by:
1. Nurse aide certified by the Board of Nursing
2. Who has not been reported in the registry of certified nurses for abuse, neglect etc
3. Has a valid criminal history check
A registered nurse, or therapist shall make a supervisory visit to the patient's residence at least once every two weeks, either to observe and assist when the nurse aide is present, or to assess relationships and determine whether goals identified in the plan of care are being met. The registered nurse or therapist must directly observe the in-home performance of each home health aide at least once every three months.
Graduates of state-approved training programs qualify to sit the Alaska State Certification Exam for Nursing Assistants.Upon successfully clearing the exam, you are registered on the Nurse Aide Registry
