  • South Dakota requires that you complete 75 hours of training and 16 hours in the clinic to meet the training requirements. After the completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant Exam, you will be added to their registry and will be officially licensed by the State Board of Nursing.

    Two years from your date of certification, you’ll be required to complete your recertification.

  • The Department of Health is the regulatory body in the state of South Dakota. If you plan to be a home health aide in South Dakota, you must abide by each of the four regulations.

    - Completion of a training program and the competency evaluation program.
    - Current registry status or eligibility verification.
    - You must be able to work as a nurse aide as documented by a supervisor.
    - Every year, you must partake in 12 hours of in-service education corresponding to the results of a performance review or special residence needs.
